Create Raster Renditions

Generate PDFs, JPEGs, TIFFs and more from any Windows application

Common Applications  |  Features

Output Formats  |  System Requirements

DocuJet is a powerful tool for generating secure, easily viewable raster images from any Windows application. As a print driver, DocuJet takes the data in the print stream and generates a raster file - saving the costs of printing documents and then scanning-to-file.

New! DocuJet 3.0

Powered by the award-winning technology of PrintWhere®, DocuJet 3.0 is a completely redesigned product. Taking advantage of the latest technology advances, DocuJet 3.0's performance and accuracy are unmatched in the industry.

[Top]

Common Applications

Why Do Companies Use DocuJet to Generate Raster Renditions?

  • Eliminate Document Scanning
  • Decrease File Size for Archival
  • Generate Images for a Fax Queue
  • View Images for File Types not Supported
  • Create Secure Renditions for Distribution
  • Generate Files for Regulation Compliance
  • Create a Custom Print Driver

Eliminate Scanning

By using a print driver, such as DocuJet, to create raster images, you no longer need to print out the documents/records and then scan them to file for storage. DocuJet is a viable alternative to using Adobe Distiller for this, as it does not alter fonts.

  • Coming Soon! See a DocuJet 3.0 and Adobe Distiller comparison.
  • Coming Soon! See the ROI for eliminating document scanning.

Archival Applications

Raster image renditions of files are usually smaller than the original file size. In addition, some regulations require that all files are archived in a specific format with specific settings.

See Regulations.

Generating Images for a Fax Server Queue

Insurance and legal organizations have to fax out hundreds or even thousands of pages per day. One DocuJet customer uses RTF files, which have a number of embedded objects such as signature images and letterhead. When the faxes are processed through their normal applications/servers, the process is very slow and each copy eats tons of system resources. Given the volume, this is unacceptable. DocuJet provides a speedy alternative that takes less system resources to send the faxes and produces small, manageable TIFF files that can be easily archived.

When faxes are prepared in a variety of applications such as Microsoft Office, COREL Draw or any other publishing package, each application uses the default printer driver to compute the resolution of the document. This can have a significant impact and cause the fax to look completely different since printers have different resolutions than faxes. Fax resolutions are 204x196 DPI or 204x98 DPI. Using DocuJet, you can set the resolution to the standard fax resolutions, ensuring that the images created for faxing are displayed accurately.

Document Viewing for File Types not Supported by the EDM System

Some electronic document/content/records management systems do not provide support for all the formats that users need to access.  This is especially true when the files were created in the past using legacy systems or created by infrequently used authoring packages.  DocuJet can be used with any Windows application to create raster renditions. These files can then be shared throughout the enterprise.

Creating Secure, Shareable Renditions for Review and Markup

In some cases, internal or external users of an EDM system need to be able to easily view, but not modify, documents and drawings. While native applications and native file viewers are always needed in the design/creation phase of a document or drawing, the imaging of finalized versions overcomes both the cost implication of providing native viewing technology to end users, and the technical issues posed by sharing files of varying versions and formats. The cost savings increase when more complex files, such as CAD drawings are involved.

Coming Soon! Regulation Compliance

  • NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) Electronic Information Exchange Guidelines ISO
  • Sarbanes-Oxley

OEM: Create Custom Solutions

DocuJet 3.0 currently does not have an API. However, we do have customers who use command line controls to launch DocuJet within an application and send the resulting generated images to the same application.

For example, one of Spicer's partners uses DocuJet with their Document Management solution to provide "soft scanning". Instead of users printing and then manually scanning files to raster images. They have an option in their system to "soft scan" - when this is clicked, DocuJet launches, generates the image and then opens and sends it to Imagenation - a Spicer Universal Viewer - for viewing before checking the image into the repository.

Interested in creating a custom solution with DocuJet, but need technical advice or questions answered? Send us an email. We'll respond within the next business day.
